New York is implementing a dispensary verification tool that will allow consumers to scan a bar code to confirm that they are purchasing licensed, regulated, and tested cannabis.
The state is also releasing a public education campaign called “Why Buy Legal New York”.
Applications for Laboratory Testing permits have been extended from December 31st, 2022 to March 31st, 2023.
The OCM has worked diligently with the New York City Sheriff’s department in a joint task force to crack down on illicit operators and help boost the viability of the legal market. Over the last year, the NYC Sheriff’s department has seized $4 million of illicit products from 53 locations across the city including 600 pounds of flower and more than 28,000 THC edibles and pre-roll packages. The OCM is working with other municipalities throughout the state in a similar capacity.
